Professor Kučera and his wife were among those clients one simply cannot forget. They were truly wonderful.

Professor Kučera is a Czech scientist, Deputy Director of the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics at the Czech Technical University in Prague, and an emeritus research fellow of the Czech Academy of Sciences — and, as is often the case with exceptionally educated people, a remarkably charismatic and humble man.

He wished to commission this portrait for his employer, explaining to me that upon his retirement he would leave it to the university as a token of remembrance. Within academic circles, he is regarded as a distinguished scientist, also due to his authorship of the mathematical theorem R = (y + aq)(x – bq)⁻¹, which I subtly and thoughtfully incorporated into the portrait itself.

Together, we ultimately selected the frame as well — and with it, the painting acquired an entirely new distinction and presence.

Shortly after finishing my first biplane, I received a request for this Boeing. I had to smile at the thought that in the past year alone I had painted more aircraft than in my entire life up to that point.

The painting was commissioned by a lady who wanted it as a Christmas gift for her husband — most likely an enthusiast of historic airplanes. The reference was a photograph of the actual aircraft, and the client’s only wish was that the biplane should not appear too warlike.

I am not well-versed in airplanes — especially not military ones — but I do understand color, and in this painting color played a crucial role.

A lady approached me who, during her medical studies, had once received a painting as a gift from a fellow student — an amateur painter. For years, this metaphysically inspired artwork had hung in her home, and she had now decided she wished to complement it with a second piece, forming a diptych.

The motif of the biplane was a remembrance of someone close to her, and the palette needed to harmonize with the existing painting. I had never painted an airplane before — certainly not on such a scale — and I did not fully grasp the technical details, so working on this piece became, for me, an exploration into the world of aviation.

Okno do zahrady vzniklo ve spolupráci s projektem Šance, který, jak zní i jeho motto, pomáhá dětem ulice.

V rámci tohoto projektu je pravidelně organizována dobročinná aukce uměleckých děl a já byla oslovena, abych vytvořila objekt, který bude v dražbě nabídnut. Souhlasila jsem a po řadě společných rozhovorů vnikl námět okna do zahrady coby dřevěného objektu. Po několika měsících jsem narazila, jak tomu často bývá, zcela náhodou na skvělého frézaře sídlícího až na Slovensku. Objekty jsme nakonec nechali vyříznout dva. První jsem ponechala v přírodním dřevě a druhý kolorovala antracitovou šedí. Na obou objektech jsem pak v oleji barevně provedla malby jednotlivých ptáků.

Oba objekty našly svého majitele a já získala novou zkušenost.

The gentleman who commissioned this painting had a passion for history. He wished to portray his wife in Renaissance dress, set within a quattrocento-style portrait setting — a view into a characteristic Italian landscape with mountains in the distance and softly gathered drapery cascading across the scene.

I paid particular attention to the floor, whose decorative pattern is composed of three types of marble commonly used in the interiors of noble patrician homes in Renaissance Italy. For the landscape in the background, I chose a view of the northern Italian valleys with the Alps rising beyond.

v třicátých letech minulého století v Praze žila dáma, která byla svou krásou povestná nejen mezi lidmi, ale především v ateliérech umělců a fotografů. Nikdy jsem o ní neslyšela, až do okamžiku, kdy mě oslovily její dcera s vnučkou, a požádaly mě, abych podle maličké černobílé fotografie rekonstruovala její portrét v barvě. Některé detaily (barva očí nebo vlasů) bylo možné vyčíst přímo z fotky nebo z paměti jejích blízkých, jiné jsme neznaly. Vypukla pátrací akce "po stopách barvy babiččiných šatů", a protože portrét měl být dárek k jejím devadesátinám, nesměla nic tušit. Její dcera věděla, že je má po celá desetiletí schované někde doma, ale jak to udělat, aby si ničeho nevšimla? Portrét byl téměř detektivní práce, ale nakonec se nám podařilo vytvořit důstojnou a autentickou  vzpomínku na babiččino mládí.
